Anne Bonny crew are proud to announce they have achieved The Virgin Island’s Green Flag status in recognition of their obedience of ‘The Ten Green Actions’.
This is our pledge:
1.REEF SAFE SUNSCREEN ON BOARD
Anne Bonny Crew will use (and encourage guests to use) non-nano mineral sunscreens.
2.AVOID PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES
Anne Bonny Crew will provide filtered water from the boat or have refillable jugs delivered
Anne Bonny Crew use the most eco-safe cleaners they can. They make the best choice with these ‘buying green’ considerations; Eco-safe ingredients, refillables, locally made products, minimal packaging, sustainable packaging, concentrated formulas, product environmental ratings on EWG.org
Anne Bonny Crew provide the most eco-safe toiletries they can. See ‘buying green’ above.
5.GREENER GALLEYS AND FOOD SERVICE
Anne Bonny Crew are enacting eco-friendly habits in the galley. They avoid plastic straws, service ware and choose reusable, durable, options over disposables
Anne Bonny Crew will bring tote bags and reusable produce bags when shopping and say no to plastic grocery bags. They choose minimal or sustainable packaging when possible and buy locally where available.
7.SOURCING SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD
Anne Bonny Crew are learning which local and store-brought sea foods are sustainable, allowing them to choose the best options as often as possible.
Anne Bonny Crew choose to moor on buoys rather than anchor where possible. They also will minimize the use of underwater lights, and dispose of food/tank waste away from the anchorage. They are mindful of turtles and wildlife that can be harmed by propellers and fast dinghies.
9.DISPLAYING ECO INFORMATION ON BOARD
10.CONNECTING GUESTS TO LOCAL INITIATIVES
If guests are interested in doing more they can speak to the Anne Bonny Crew about carbon offsets or contributing to favorite local environmental initiative.
